In this presentation to the CPS Data Analyst User Group, we highlight the ways in which The Learning Partnership has used CPS data in combination with data collected by The Learning Partnership to draw insights into the ways that the CPS Computer Science Team is ensuring that all students in Chicago participate in engaging, relevant, and rigorous computing experiences and is increasing opportunities for all students to pursue computing pathways and preparing all students for the future of work. These data driven insights provide evidence for the importance of teachers connecting students’ voice into the implementation of computer science activities. These connections increase student success in computer science courses and inspire students to pursue additional coursework. In those schools where students pursue both ECS and AP CSP, they double the probability of earning a CS bachelor’s degree in comparison to taking just one or the other class. To achieve the goal of maximizing postsecondary CS opportunities for all students, it is imperative that all schools provide opportunities for students to take both ECS and AP CSP.
